Cherokee Promise Scholarship

The purpose of the Cherokee Promise Scholarship is to provide financial assistance to low income Cherokee
students pursuing higher education. The Cherokee Nation Education and Human Services Groups have
partnered to develop and administer the Cherokee Promise Scholarship.
The Cherokee Promise Scholarship will provide to students a $2000 educational scholarship and a $1000
housing scholarship per semester. Cherokee Promise Students will live in a designated residence hall with large
spacious rooms on an all-Cherokee floor. Students will be provided throughout their time on the program with
many different Cherokee cultural activities, specialized classes and other opportunities designed to fit their
needs.

Must be a citizen of the Cherokee Nation.
Must be a resident of the fourteen-county
jurisdictional area.
Must meet all Pell eligible requirements for
the Cherokee Nation Undergraduate
Scholarship.
Must meet all eligibility requirements for the
Cherokee Nation Human Services College
Housing Assistance Program, including
NAHASDA income guidelines.
Must be accepted to Northeastern State
University and live on campus in a
designated residence hall.
Must have a 2.7 GPA
Must participate in the Self-Help program.
Must participate in the Cherokee Cultural
Curriculum.
Priority will be given to incoming freshmen.
